Meet Our Staff
Rev. Eric Whelchel
Minister To Students
Eric has been our Minister to Students since October of 2001 and has been in full-time youth ministry for over 18 years. He's a graduate of Pepperell High School (1994) here in Lindale and earned his B.S. in Christian Ministry from Shorter University (1998) in Rome. Eric and his wife, Kim, have been married for 18 years and have three boys; Tyler (17), Ben (14), and Rob (9).
Eric loves building relationships with students and watching them fall in love with God and His Word. He enjoys playing NFL Fantasy Football and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. He eats way too many Oreos and loves 80's movies. His list of favorite music is way too long to list, but Rich Mullins and Andrew Peterson would certainly be at the top.
Daniel Ng has been a part of the music ministry of FBC Lindale since August of 2011. Originally from Georgetown, KY, Daniel's calling to sacred music began in 1998 playing piano for Cane Run Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. Although very traditional in nature, exposure to contemporary worship has led him to love all of the several musical channels that praise God. Narrowing it down to five songs, his favorites are "Revelation Song", "There is Something About That Name", "Be Still My Soul", "Great I Am" and "I Shall Not Want". Outside of leading in worship, Daniel loves to go home for a home cooked meal, enjoy the outdoors, and he bleeds blue for “Your Kentucky Wildcats”.
Dan would love to answer any questions you may have about our worship services or tell you more about how you can be involved in our music ministry. You can call him at our Church Office, email him, follow him on Twitter, or find him on Facebook.
Rev. Jim Cook
Associate to Pastor
Jim, our Associate to Pastor, has served the congregation at FBC Lindale in multiple ministries since September of 1980. His service began as full-time Minister of Music & Youth. In 1988, his leadership transitioned to Music & Recreation. In 1989, Jim was led by the Lord into full-time public education, transitioning him to serve the church in a part-time role. Now retired from public education, Jim continues to serve our church as Associate to the Pastor.
His wife, Bonnie, was a musical accompanist, serving our church with her amazing talent on piano & keyboard. In the summer of 2011, Bonnie was diagnosed with brain cancer. On August 25, 2011, Bonnie was killed when the vehicle she was in caught fire as they were arriving at a local cancer center for radiation treatment. She was a huge part of the church's ministry, but God has brought glory to Himself through her life and death. Jim and Bonnie were married for 36 years. Jim has two grown children, David & Julie, a daughter-in-law, Hannah, and two granddaughters, Julianne and Lilliana.
Jim's experience and dedication to our church enables him to serve all ages of our congregation in many ways. On Sundays, he leads our Sanctuary Bible Study class for adults and is also an active part of our multimedia and sound ministry. Jim enjoys photography, reading, and will always be found with the latest in modern tech gadgets. He's grateful to be an uncle to 6 and great-uncle to 14!
Here are some of Jim's favorite leadership quotes.
